This blog was originally created out of sheer boredom (well… mostly out of the need to familiarize myself with WordPress for a Direct Response Marketing project) and now serves as a place for me to post up random things that I find interesting or amusing.

My name is Garrett DeHart. My graduate thesis film, “If I Am Your Mirror” an animated film horror short, inspired by romantic painting and Edgar Allan Poe and starring Larry Holden (Batman Begins, Insomnia, Memento) is screening online today and I was hoping you might be willing to mention it on your site. I’ve bygone the festival circuit and trying online distribution to get it out into the world. Anything you could do to help would be very much appreciated.

I’ll check it out and see if I can incorporate it into my posts somehow. Honestly though, if you’re trying to get noticed by the industry, you’d probably stand a bigger chance if you upload it on vimeo since youtube is over-saturated with so much content. Just make sure you tag your video appropriately so you can be found and be sure to write a description about the vid (brief but compelling, be sure to point out that it’s your graduate thesis film) and list the appropriate credits. Filling out your vimeo profile and describing the goal of (hopefully what will eventually be) your portfolio will won’t hurt either. 😉

Damn it, I typed out a pretty detailed feedback and accidentally erased it >__<
Anyways, first off, I love the texture and art direction (gritty, gory goodness, and oh look! wrinkles!). The character design for the old man is really cool (makes me want to see some of the original concept arts). I was a little confused around the 4 minute mark the first time I watched it (the cut from the gallows to the train and then to the battlefield/house is disorienting since I wasn't sure where the protagonist physically is) but it's a lot more interesting the 2nd time around.
That said, I don't think I'll make a post of this because it doesn't really suit the style of my blog. I want to keep my blog upbeat and colorful and your short is a little too bloody to be made light of.
Like I previously mentioned though, if you want to get noticed, use vimeo. Not only do you get sharper images (less compression than youtube) but there are more shorts of this caliber there so you won't have to compete with the latest cat or cute baby vid. I hope this helps you. 🙂

there are a few “requirments”–haha. Click on the link to my site where I list what I had to do to “accept”. (All these quotes!) A way for you to spread the love for other blogs, really. I don’t do too much wandering in blogosphere, so spent some time looking around to find 15 to recommend. Took some time, but am always up for procrastinating those “have-tos” (cleaning, working, etc) Have fun:-)
