1. Apple/Mac References
Those who are avid Pixar fans will notice that there are quite a number of Apple/Mac references in their films, given that Steve Jobs was once a CEO of Pixar, back when the company was known as The Graphics Group; it was only until 2006 when Disney officially acquired Pixar that Jobs officially left. Pixar’s tribute to Apple was quite prominent in WALL-E: the robot EVE was designed by Apple’s very own design guru Johnny Ive; there’s a scene at the beginning where WALL-E watches Hello Dolly on a circa 2006 video iPod; the classic Mac booting chime goes off after WALL-E’s done re-charging himself; etc… Apple also was a “sponsor” for one of the race cars in Cars, and so it follow that it would make another appearance in Toy Story 3. If you look closely in the picture above, you’ll notice that the computer that Woody is using is iMac with OSX and Safari. Andi can also be seen with iTunes open on his laptop:
2. The Number “237”
The 237 number in the screenname is a reference to director Lee Unkrich’s favorite movie The Shining.
3. The Number “95”
The number on the train, 95, is a tribute to the year the original Toy Story was released.
4. The Number “A113”
This one’s pretty cool: what started as an inside joke of CalArts alumni (a reference to the classroom number that was used by Animation students — including John Lasseter, Andrew Stanton, Brad Bird, Pete Docter) — has been present in not only every Pixar film, but Disney movies and animated television shows that they’ve taken part in, including Iron Giant, The Simpsons, Family Guy, American Dad, Powerpuffgirls and Tinytoon Adventures.
In Toy Story 3, A113 appears once again as the number on the license plate of Andy’s mother’s car.
5. Tiger Pride!
This one’s a pretty cute fact: the Tigers license plate is actually a reference to director Lee Unrich’s hometown — Chagrin Falls, Ohio — the same place that Bill Watterson (cartoonist and the author of the influential and popular comic strip Calvin and Hobbes) grew up. Their high school mascot was actually a tiger, which I guess explains why Hobbes is a tiger as well. =)
6. Hidden Characters/Cameos
I actually didn’t know this before, but in every Pixar movie, the animators actually hide a character or two from one of their upcoming films. For instance, in Peter Docter’s UP:
The cute little pink/purple teddy bear (underneath the bed of sequence where Carl’s house floats by a child’s bedroom window) is named Lots-o’-Huggins Bear, and he is voiced by Ned Beatty.

Glad I could be of help! Actually… are you doing a project on Pixar or just Toy Story in general? Because if your project is on the former, I highly recommend “The Pixar Touch: The Making of a Company” by David A. Price. I found it by accident when I was doing a paper for a film class, and it’s so insightful and inspiring. The crazy part is that none of the founders of Pixar knew anything about animation when they first founded the company; they were just a bunch of guys who love animation. Granted a few of them knew people who works in the industry but still, the amount of things they’ve accomplished from nothing to what it is today is amazing.
