James Cameron’s Avatar

1 Jan

Just came back from seeing James Cameron’s Avatar, and omgosh… what an amazing movie.  If you’re a fan of Hayao Miyazaki/Studio Ghibli Films, then you have to check this one out because you are going to fall in love with it.

In short, this movie is epic.  There is simply no other word to describe it.  The world where the movie takes place is so much more vast and has so much depth beyond what you see onscreen.  Watching it, you get the feeling that their world is so big and full of so much places to explore and things to see.  The details behind it is so meticulously done that it feels incredibly realistic; I defy anyone who sees this and claims that they weren’t blown away by it.

Storyline wise, the plot is very simple but the delivery of it was very effectively done.  For a movie that’s almost 3 hours long, it did not drag at all.  It’s consistently action packed, funny, exciting, and full of surprises that will keep you on the edge of your seat.  Learning about the culture, norms, traditions, and the way of life for the Na’vi (the aliens), you just can help but develop an emotional attachment to them.

Everything from the the sets, music, sound effects, visual effects and everything else in between is stunning, and absolutely breath-taking.  This movie will make you laugh, and it will make you cry.

In the words of a reviewer on IMDB,

My advice to you: let Pandora become YOUR real world for two and a half hours; let it make you completely forget about your life and problems; let it entertain you, move you; let it carry you away.

Because THAT is what I expect as an exchange for my ticket.

And a few hours ago i got tens of tickets worth of that.
